Ecological Water Systems, Yestermorrow, Vermont

Round River Design, LLC is committed to practicing regenerative design. Through strategic collaborations and an integrated approach we are developing and implementing solutions to the ecological, economic, and social challenges that face our communities.

Round River Design takes its name from Aldo Leopold's classic text. The essay discussed as a metaphor for ecology and community a mythical river forever flowing around and back into itself, so that a community, its landscape, and its water could never be separate--so that nothing healthy could ever be totally separate. "It is inconceivable to me," wrote Leopold, "that an ethical relation to land can exist without love, respect and admiration for land and a high regard for its value."

Our expertise lies in the design, planning, and implementation of community, land, and water systems through restoration and education. Round River Design provides consulting services in stream geomorphology, river restoration, and water quality monitoring and assessments. The company was founded by Michael Blazewicz in August of 2007. Michael’s project related experience is extensive and includes numerous Phase 1 and 2 geomorphic assessments, bridge and culvert surveys, valley wall verifications, river corridor plans, reporting, and public outreach.

Collaborating with a team of consulting engineers, wetlands scientists, hydrologists, and other experts, Round River Design is able to handle multi-faceted projects as well as offer specific expertise into ongoing projects in order to enhance the synergistic outcome of this important work. Our project team has had proven success with both independent and team- oriented projects. Our ability to work with various stakeholders has been bolstered by our work experience with public, private, and non-profit sectors.

Our consultants design in the context of watersheds - geographic areas that transcend political boundaries (property, town, and state). By integrating productive landscapes with the built environment, we are restoring community, sense of place, and stewardship practices. Example projects include rain gardens, watershed restoration plans, edible landscapes, and more.

Our consultants are able to handle multi-faceted projects or offer specific expertise into ongoing projects in order to enhance the synergistic outcome of our important work. Please contact us for more information.
